2005 Jumping Breeders

Aurum Park Stud

Stud Principals:
Kim Jacobson & Richard Blackam

Since the early eighties we have been developing our jumping breeding programme with a view to producing the best possible Australian bred jumping horses. We are now working with 3rd generation purpose bred performance horses with our 4th generation due next spring.
Our jumping lines are very well known in Australia and overseas and directly include the likes of Brilliant Invader, Flooding, and McCartney in our four stallions. As well as these famous bloodlines, our broodmare band includes several well-performed jumping mares, some of whom include those illustrious lines in their own pedigrees. Other recent additions to the broodmare band include lines such as Daley K and Salute.
Of course to the educated jumping person these bloodlines are highly recognised and we can see them doing amazing things right now in the hands of such well-known riders as Heath Ryan, Wendy Schaeffer, Vicki Roycroft, Natalie Blundell and Brook Dobbin.
Our two young Brilliant Invader stallions Aurum Invader and Aurum Brilliant Cut are expecting their first crop of foals next season and we fully expect their wonderful temperaments and rideability to appear in their progeny.
For a long time Australian Thoroughbred bloodlines have almost had a stranglehold on Olympic eventing. Athens showed that the emphasis has changed and to help keep Australia at the forefront of international eventing we have included some international quality dressage lines in the programme. For example we currently have a stunning Flooding/Regardez Moi colt available.
Australian Showjumping and Eventing has clearly moved towards professionally purpose bred horses and away from re-homed racehorses. At Aurum we have been part of this trend whilst retaining proven thoroughbred bloodlines.
We are currently starting some of our exciting new youngsters in the eventing and showjumping scenes and look forward to some excellent performances over the next year as indicated by early results. It is extremely satisfying to work with young horses who have been purpose bred and well handled since birth and are as a result quiet, talented, trainable and uncomplicated. We look forward to sharing this satisfaction with our clients!

Australian Sporthorse Breeders PL

Stud principals:
Mike Barrerra, Helen and Chris Chugg

Vivant:  this super young stallion just goes from strength to strength - living up to all expectations and proving the depth and talent inherent in his pedigree.
His first two year olds have broken in extremely well, proving themselves intelligent and tractable. We couldn’t resist free jumping them and needless to say – we are very happy.
Conquistador:  is now beginning his career under saddle.  This lovely young athlete does everything right.  He is careful, scopey and very rideable. Combined with three correct and soft paces and outstanding type, he is also set to make an impact on sport horse breeding in this country.
This year, we introduce his brother Corrigador to the stallion line up. He is out of the same mare as Conquistador, but his sire Upsilon van de Heffinck is by Clinton out of a Darco mare. Adding a dash of the super sire Darco to an already outstanding family.
If you are serious about breeding and riding jumpers and eventers give us a ring to discuss your needs.

Breeding Brilliance

Stud Principals:
Jane griffin and Fiona Hughes

Breeding Brilliance is the ultimate boutique performance horse stud. This year, there are 14 mares in foal to the two resident stallions. the home bred Prodigy and the recently acquired Raise A Stanza. Prodigy is purpose bred for the Olympic disciplines. He is by Family Ties (sire of Eros, a showjumping star in the States with Anne Kursinski). He is also the sire of Liaisons, campaigned by Vicki Roycroft and sold to France, and three star eventers – Brady Bunch, King George and Kings Romance. Prodigy’s dam, Wakefield Tower, descends from Persian Gulf, a half brother to Precipitation.
Raise A Stanza certainly wasn’t promoted as a performance sire, but on the basis of a tiny number of mares, he produced exceptional eventers – like Enchanted, Scrumpy Jack and the up and coming, Dot.Com. Luckily, his progeny were so good, that Breeding Brilliance set out and found a stallion that the racing world had quite forgotten. It will be exciting to see what he can produce when deliberately breeding for the sport!
Fiona Hughes and Enchanted - now you can breed to his sire!
Raise A Stanza stamps all his progeny with his wonderful natural movement and jumping ability. They all seem to have an effortless floating trot and a power bold jump. Raise A Stanza possesses a lovely friendly nature which he passes on to his progeny.
At Breeding Brilliance, the focus is on the Thoroughbred crossed with selected Warmblood lines to produce a modern performer. The emphasis is on eventing, which not surprising since stud director, Jane Griffin has evented to advanced levels, and head trainer, Fiona Hughes, has been a formidable competitor on the eventing scene for over a decade.
And the horses are not only ‘brilliantly bred’ they are also well raised, with foals growing up naturally out in the paddock.

Bungaree Park

Stud Principals:
Linda Mayer

Bungaree Park is a small stud focused on producing young showjumping stock that equal or exceed the quality of any imported European showjumping horse.
The genetic strength of the mare band at Bungaree Park, which includes brood mares by such exceptional stallions as Carthago Z, Calvin Z, Lux Z, Rex Z, Almé Crack Z, Aachen, Contango 11, Rabino, enables a strong contribution from the dam thus complimenting the elite stallions used by Bungaree Park.
This year Bungaree Park broodmares are carrying foals by Carthago Z, Calvaro Z, Camelot Ego Z, Celeborn Ego Z, Landon, Parco & Rex Z. The resultant pedigrees will stand up to genuine world wide scrutiny as some of the best available. Bungaree Park can therefore supply breeders with elite bloodlines and we are proud to have produced the excellent young stallions: Cartalmé Ego Z (Aaron Williamson), Romany Ego Z (Gavin Chester), Corsica Ego Z (Rod Brown), Luxury Ego Z (George Riley), Ego Caspian (K & V Weir) & Ego Centago ( Ogden & Rowe) , Cor Roman Ego Z (David Finch), plus many more.
Bungaree Park remains primarily an equine reproduction centre with limited training facilities, thus we offer most of our products as foals & yearlings aiming at affordable prices for well grown paddock presented youngsters. There are no irrelevant sale costs to the buyer.
For mare owners, we well recognize the expense and risk that is involved in breeding, thus the quality stallions that we stand are kept at reasonable service fees with an emphasis on assisting the mare owner to achieve a live, healthy foal. Due to training & competition, Camelot Ego Z (Carthago Z x Grannus 11) & Celeborn Ego Z (Calvin Z x Jalmé) will stand a more limited season this year. We ask that breeders contact us early with their requirements.
Bungaree Park is proud to be the Australian representatives for Group France Elevage offering the sought after French stallions: Oberon du Moulin, Mr Blue, Fetiche du Pas & Cabdula du Tillard (already utilized by leading riders & breeders such as Olivia Bunn & Dennis Crane) and through Kedrah House Stud, we offer one of the most highly credentialed European showjumping stallions, Lux Z.
Bungaree Park continues to support showjumping breeders & riders.

Copabella Sporthorses

Stud Principals:
Alan and Lesley Hargreaves

Stud Breeding Goals:
The Copabella journey began when the Hargreaves family returned to  Australia in 1997, after living for 20 years in Hong Kong, Singapore and the  USA. Also migrating to Australia with the family, along with assorted cats and  dogs, was a one-in-a-million sporthorse mare, Toddingham.
Toddy had been a very successful performer in the States, with major wins  in her early years as an eventer with Marcia Kulak, then even more prestigious  wins as a dressage horse and occasional showjumper with trainers Lendon Gray  and Lucie McKinney, and owner, Lesley Hargreaves. The plan was to produce  youngsters that the Hargreaves daughters could train and compete later on.
Trainer Vicki Roycroft was subsequently asked to source a young  stallion who would make a suitable match for Toddy, and the by now growing  band of quality Copabella broodmares. The plan had somehow grown along the  way, when Copabella, along with a select few other breeders, recognised the  need to improve significantly the standard of Australian sporthorse breeding.  Vicki found a promising young Belgian warmblood stallion in France. Ticks  in all the right boxes. Jump to die for, movement to outclass many a dressage  star, licensed, gentlemanly temperament. And Pinto. While this had not been  part of the original plan, the sheer quality of the stallion was enough  to put any colour prejudice aside. Visage has not been a disappointment on any level, and his first crop on Australian soil is absolutely outstanding.
Copabella’s next step was to begin to import top-class dam lines, and the latest addition to the broodmare herd is a wonderful Quidam de Revel mare  currently in foal to Olympic jumping stallion Chin Chin. Holland Rose has already produced a licensed stallion as well as two lovely fillies, and  carries some of the best jumping bloodlines in Europe. Plans for this year include another trip to Europe, with a view to adding one more mare of a similar quality to the herd.

Danaos Park Stud

Stud Principals:
Katrina Stafford Misner

Just when Australian jumping fans – like jumping fans all over the world – were beginning to realise that the French were producing the most successful jumpers in the world, along comes the first magnificently bred, licensed French showjumping stallion, and he is right here standing in Australia!!! Danaos du Thelliet is royally bred. He is by the World Champion, Quito du Baussy and out of a mare by I Love You, out of a mare by the great Thoroughbred sire of jumpers, Night and Day, out of Jalisco’s mother!!! Two crosses of Almé, two crosses of Furioso – breeding doesn’t get stronger than that.
But this is more than a fancy pedigree, Danaos du Thelliet, jumped at the highest level in Europe, winning and placing in Monaco, Bonn, Munich, Maastricht and Dusseldorf.
At Danaos Park, Katrina Stafford Misner is setting out to breed the top showjumping Selle Français horses in Australia, and she is breeding him to top quality mares, like her Cassius Clay
(Aachen/Argentinus)/Contango bred mare currently in foal to Danaos. Because of his light frame Danaos is perfect for breeding to Thoroughbred and Warmblood mares. The stallion is compact, scopey, agile, and extremely fast – if you want speed with wonderful temperament, this horse has it.
The good news is that the AWHA has decided to accept Danaos du Thelliet as a registered stallion, and it is hoped that his progeny will be registered too.
Danaos semen is also being sold in Europe, where he has produced several foals including Dame Danaos, out of a mare by Capitol, who is competing as a five year old in Europe. In Australia, his semen is available frozen or chilled.
So if you want to breed to the best – Queensland is a lot closer than France, but the breeding and performance offered, is exceptional.

4ACES

Stud Principals:
Eva de Richebourg and
Bjorn Svardson

4ACES represents FLYINGE – Swedish National Stud and is able to extend to the breeders in Australia and New Zealand the same World Class Stallions and very favourable terms that Swedish breeders enjoy. The semen is available in Australia at all times and in fact, you only pay a Booking Fee until your mare is in foal. Should the mare, for some reason, fail to become pregnant after four inseminations there is NO SEMEN FEE!
As the FLYINGE and Swedish tradition is to breed the very best international type of horse, 4ACES have selected only the absolute best and proven stallions, out of the extremely tough selection of European stallions already selected by the Swedish National Stud.
Another Swedish tradition is also, that we want horses that can excel in all four disciplines: Showjumping, Dressage, Eventing and Driving. The selection we have made for Australia is therefore very exclusive, exquisite and exciting!
Some of the top quality foals by these stallions, born in Australia this season, are now being placed on our web site - as the pictures are starting to come in from their proud owners.
The stallions have such consolidated bloodlines that they come through very strongly in their offspring with their abilities, temperaments and looks. It’s a pleasure to be part of helping Australia to have more and more international class horses to ride and breed from.
The famed Cardento in action!
Available from 4 Aces!
Although CARDENTO is the stallion most people know as the outstanding achiever in Show jumping, AMIRAL, EMMERTON, BRIAR, RAGAZZO and the Riding Pony POWER BOY, all give superb and talented Show jumping offspring. Cardento is currently right at the top of world Showjumping stallions, both in his own performance and as a sire of international class progeny. Cardento was the determining factor in the Swedish Team Silver at Jerez WEG 2002, as well as the Team Bronze in Athens. He won the finals at the European Championships 2003, just to mention a few of his successes. He simply is one of the most talented and reliable horses on the planet. His dream temperament and good looks make him as close to perfect as one can ever hope for. His approved son Cosmopolite S won his Classification for 4 year old stallions 2002. 21 of his offspring where part of the 5 year old Breeders Trophy in Sweden and 14 came to the finals! Both 2002 and 2003, the Show Jumping Talent Hunt was won by Cardento offspring!
With proven performance bloodlines of the very highest quality, Emmerton was the unmatched winner of his 70-day classification tests at Adelheidsdorf in 2001 out of 37 stallions. Showjumping bloodlines like Nimmerdor, Dersinaa (Dam of Highlight ), Lucky Boy xx and Ladykiller xx have in Emmerton given FLYINGE and Peter Eriksson yet another top class stallion to their star-filled stables. This impressive big boy has now matured into the most elegant stallion with the “coolest” temperament and attitude to his Show Jumping as well as his breeding stallion career - which took off like a rocket! He is being prepared for Beijing 2008! A horse for the future – for sure.
4ACES also have the pleasure of presenting the living legend – the international Riding Pony stallion POWER BOY RP 112, who apart from an overwhelming number of dressage offspring, including
Bundeschampionate winners, also has sired many, many winners of RP Show Jumping and RP Eventing, as well as RP Driving. An absolute Phantom, that keeps producing top progeny in all disciplines.
AMIRAL 764 - one of the very best horses ever - whose semen we luckily still are able to offer Australian and NZ breeders. Amiral has not only the best Dressage blood lines, but also a most consolidated line of impressive Show Jumpers amongst his progeny. His pedigree has top class Show Jumpers on both sides.
Another outstanding sire of Show Jumping horses is the fabulous, ever so capable stallion, RAGAZZO 998, Sire: Raphael by Ramiro. Although a dressage wizard himself, his Breeding Index for Show Jumping 2003 was 139. He truly has impressive and very solid lines of international Show Jumping stars in his pedigree and has sired many super talents in Show Jumping. Just to mention one – Rayana Chiara, who sold for EUR 92 000 at the Elite auction in Verden 2003! We strongly recommend Ragazzo as a most secure investment for the professional breeder of international competition horses, regardless of discipline!
Last but not least, we have the amazing, athletic No1 Dressage Stallion in the world in competition, BRIAR 899, by Magini 695 – international Show Jumping stallion. Still, we want to stress that BRIAR actually had higher Show Jumping scores ( 99/89 ), at his 4 year old Classification Tests, than dressage scores and that he has sired a number of very talented Show Jumping horses, presently on their way up through the ranks. BRIAR 899 is a horse that “comes once in a blue moon”, a Superstar ( conditions apply )!
Welcome to the 2005 4 ACES smorgasbord of World Class stallions.

International Horse Breeders

Stud Principals:
Glenis Dyason & Eil Kingma

It’s always good to be able to bring to Australian breeders some exciting new bloodlines from Europe. Clients like to see what is new each year! Last season we introduced a new range of dressage and jumping stallions from Paul Schockemöhle’s stable and they were very well received. We had good success rates especially with stallions like Champion FP (Champion du Lys/For Pleasure) and Balou du Rouet (Baloubet du Rouet/Continue) both of which were very reasonably priced as well as beautifully bred. The bloodlines of Cento, Contender and Silvio were also well represented.
We will have some new stallions from the State Hanoverian Stud at Celle for 2005. There are new sons by Escudo 1 and For Feeling and two by Stakkato. Escudo 1 is such a good sire for both jumping and dressage and Celle now stands four of his sons! For Feeling (by For Pleasure) has his first son standing this year called First Pleasure, out of a Graf Grannus mare. Talking about Graf Grannus, he won the Hanoverian of the Year this year and breeders would do well to take advantage of his genes! Stakkato is still the number one ranking stallion for jumping in the Hanoverian Verband and Celle now stands four of his sons! Stakkato, who boasts of a breeding index of 175, is still available to the discerning breeder through IHB.
The ability to jump is highly inheritable. Breed for success and use one of our 56 jumping stallions in your jumping or eventing breeding program this coming season.
Triathalon – one of the exciting young Traks coming through the showjumping ranks with Matthais Holberg.

Jubilee Stud

Stud Principals:
Les & Michele Denham

Both Trak and Jubilee Bay have certainly made a mark on the performance horse industry, with progeny from both stallions competing successfully in eventing and showjumping, as well as dressage and in the show ring. Both stallions have also had offspring sold overseas – including a stallion son of Jubilee Bay.
These stallions are both endowed with wonderful temperaments and have riders of all stages and ages – from young riders to Olympians – successfully competing.
Both stallions have had mares sent to them by several showjumping and eventing Olympians – you could ask for no better endorsement.
Many of our clients keep coming back, delighted with the results and the service we give. We have an excellent pregnancy per cycle rate with the mares sent to our stud. This is perhaps often overlooked by mare owners when choosing a stallion, but is important in helping to keep costs down. Our business is breeding – our stallions are available 365 days per year!

Kirby Park

Stud Principals:
Megan Jones

Kirby Park Stud is committed to breeding and producing top class performance horses. Clients who have bought Kirby Park horses from us, couldn’t be happier, they are competing and winning throughout Australia and internationally.
Kirby Park Joy is a home bred mare, I’ve just started competing this season and people are falling over themselves to find out who her sire is? Well it’s Kirby Park Nantamboo, our Thoroughbred stallion. He has the most beautiful movement and temperament. From three eventing starts in three different states, Joy has had two wins (at the third, she was leading, I just went slowly across country). Even if you are a dressage only rider, and are looking for a stallion for your mare, this guy is seriously worth a look. Joy may be very fancy in the dressage arena, but there is not a hint of princess when it comes to the fences, she is bold and athletic.
Kirby Park Nantamboo is consistently producing horses of this quality.
Who is that mare? Joy by Nantamboo
Wrestwood Neptune, our second stallion, was imported from England from the world’s leading eventing stud, Welton.
His dam is a full sister to Ginny Elliot’s famous Night Cap (European Champion) and a half sister to World Eventing Champion, Priceless. Neptune’s brother, Welton Envoy, won the Kentucky CCI**** in 2000. This stallion has world class performance written all over him. To find out more about our horses and stud, visit

Roycroft Stables

Stud Principals:
Vicki Roycroft

If you are a really top European breeder then stallion lines don’t really interest you. So you can forget about the fact that Premier des Hayettes (Errol) is by one of the most successful jumping stallions in Europe – Concorde – or that he in turn, is by the greatest Dutch jumping stallion of them all, Voltaire, forget all that and concentrate on the mare line. His dam,
Calbonny (by that wonderful sire of
Cute as! Another stunning Errol baby!
jumpers, Nimmerdor) has already produced two CSI winners, Premier des Hayettes and his half brother, Mozart des Hayettes – a World 6 year old Young Jumping Horse Champion. Calbonny is out of Albonnie Z (by Almé) who was a top Grand Prix competitor in the United States with Mark Leone, and she was out of Bonnie Alice who was an international showjumper with Lionel Dunning. Now that is what the European breeders would call, Breeding.
Errol is himself a World Cup winner, and his first crop of foals continue to impress.
PS. He has a wonderful fertility rate using frozen semen, and is also available for natural cover by arrangement.

Wondaree

Stud Principals:
Kate Wallace

2005 marks the 34 years anniversary since I started breeding sporthorses. It’s been a long road, rough in patches, exciting in others, but lots of fun and plenty of hard work. The A grade mare Sheena, and the stallion, Satu Besar, were the foundations of the stud. They produced the stallion, Fame and Katey Bell who was the dam of Dreamtime of Wondaree.
Kate Wallace - breeding horses takes great bloodlines, good country and time...
Both stallions are retired now, but I have a very nice five year old stallion by Dreamtime from a Rangatera mare, and a two year old colt, also by Dreamtime, out of a C Grade mare, Miss Flamboyant.
My aim has always been to breed quality horses, with correct conformation, good movement and the ability to jump. There are a lot of young horses on Wondaree now who possess these qualities, and are for sale, including The Badger who is from the same mare as Balmoral Cavalier and stock by AEA Aspen, Family Ties, Jubilee Bay, Cruising and Just de Pomme.

Yalambi Stud

Stud Principals:
Rory Howell

The aim at Yalambi is to give Australia the opportunity to purchase purpose-bred showjumping horses, bred for the international scene, without the expense and risk of buying in Europe.
With Rory Hovell as stud manager, we have imported in the five years since our inception, seven young mares, pregnant from international stallions not available in Australia; chosen for their jumping abilities, temperaments and pedigrees. This year, we are proud to introduce the scopey and powerful 17 hh, 3 yr old Uklahoma by the exciting new popular Dutch stallion Hold Up Premier (Narcos II x Quidam de Revel). She is out of a Contender x Landgraf I x Capitol I mare, and is in foal to Quite Easy. One of our first imported mares, Profyta Velvet (Voltaire x Emilion x Lucky Boy) is now successfully competing with Rory in the U.S.A. She was selected for her free-jumping ability as a 3 year old and has set the benchmark for future purchases. Yalambi’s aim is to breed nothing less than her calibre. Watch out for Uklahoma next year as well as Torreya – another scopey mare by Hold Up Premier out of a Nimmerdor mare, imported pregnant in 2003. Her Landor S foal, now a yearling colt, is looking very promising.
Yalambi has foals, yearlings, two and three-year olds for sale by such stallions as Voltaire, Corland, Cardinale (by Zeus), Emilion, Landor S, Celerity Park Starlight and Carry A Smile. Our foal crop for this coming season will include foals by Quite Easy, Cassini II and Conquistador. Our brood-mares are by the stallions: Indoctro, Galoubet A, Calvados, Wolfgang and Hold Up Premier. The dam sires include Landadel, Legaat, Contender, Nimmerdor and Dutchman.
The team at Yalambi is very excited by our crop of youngsters this year and invite you to peruse our website, soon to be online.
