Freudentänzer passed his stallion performance test in 1987,
and went on after a brief period as a breeding stallion, to
compete at Grand Prix level, under the guidance of Nicole Uphoff.
He was a spectacular mover but always a horse with a difficult
temperament and his success was very much a tribute to Nicoles
skills.
His sire, Frühlingstraum II won the Westfalien stallion
licensing in 1970 and produced many highly sought after mares
during his lengthy career at Wadesloh. His most famous performer
was the 1982 World Champion showjumper, Fire II ridden by Norbert
Koof. Frülingstraum is by the great Westfalien stallion,
Frühling.
Freudentänzers dam is by Sioux who stood at the Varl
stallion station and again, was highly regarded as a brood mare
sire. Romulus I, the sire of Romadour
I and II appears in the third line of this pedigree - although
there is some doubt as to whether Romadour II is in fact by
Rolulus.
Freudentänzer passed his stallion performance test in Münster-Handorf
in 1987, and thereafter established himself as a top class dressage
performer. As a sire he produced three approved sons, including
Freudentraum who was awarded a 1b premium at the 1992 approval
and who is a popular sire in southern Germany. He has produced
almost 100 competition horses but the most spectacularly successful
is his only international Grand Prix performer, Farbenfroh who
was part of the German Gold medal team at Sydney in 2000, and
World Champion in Jerez in 2002 with Nadine Capellmann.
