Shane Rose blitzed a classy field of competitors on the weekend to win the Mitavite 3* ODE at SIEC, place second in the same class and win the Richmond 2*. Riding his Olympic hopeful, Taurus, Shane led the 3* from the start with a dressage score of 72.50%. He also rode APH Moritz, scoring 70.39%, which had them in third place.
Ewan Kellet designed a tough cross-country course, with no rider making time. Shane Rose and Emma Bishop were the closest to the optimum time adding just 5.6 time penalties to their scores. Christine Bates moved up to second place with Adelaide Hill and Tim Boland slid into third with Billy Elliot.
The showjumping sorted out the placings, with a difficult course by John Vallance. Shane went clear on APH Moritz, Tim Boland had an uncharacteristic refusal that relegated him to fourth place and Christine Bates had a costly rail, sliding back to fourth place. Having sent the showjumps flying at Adelaide on Taurus, and subsequently slipping from first to fifth place, Shane was keen to show that Taurus was back on track with his jumping. What better way to demonstrate this than a brilliant clear round. First on Taurus, second on APH Moritz and also first in the Horseland, Richmond 2* Class with Virgil; a great weekend of eventing for Shane!
