Christopher grabs Burghley lead

When you are hot, you are very hot,  Christopher Burton  is in the lead at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials with a score of 30.2 (!!!) on Nobilis. Christopher is now 4.3 penalties in front of first-day leader Bettina Hoy.

Andrew Nicholson showed he has recovered from his broken neck and is in third place on Nereo, with the excellent mark of 35.2.

But the other Aussies are doing well,  The Blue Frontier, ridden by dual Burghley winner Andrew Hoy in on 38.3 while Sam Griffiths on the 17-year-old Happy Times and is in eighth place on 39.6.

Bill Levett and Improvise are 12 on 42.5.

SHANE ROSE (AUS) RIDING VIRGIL TAKING PART IN THE DRESSAGE PHASE OF THE 2016 LAND ROVER BURGHLEY HORSE TRIALS

Shane Rose and Virgil are 13th on 45.1.

SONJA JOHNSON (AUS) RIDING PARKIARRUP ILLICIT LIAISON

Sonja Johnson and Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison is just behind them on 46.9.

Seventy horses completed the Dressage; Rodolphe Scherer (FRA) was eliminated when the Ground Jury decided that Makara de Montiege looked unlevel.
