In Holland he is known as VDL Indoctro, while in Germany, following the Holstein naming custom, he is C-Indoctro. By any name he is one of the world’s most successful jumping sires…

Indoctro is another of those hugely successful Capitol / Caletto II crosses. His dam Vanessa VII also produced two full brothers, C-Indoctro II and the Olympic showjumper, National Guard ridden by Fahad Al Geaid.

After being Champion of his stallion test, Indoctro went on to a successful jumping career with Ulrich Kirchhoff.

Indoctro has been such a success as a sire for the KWPN studbook, that at the age of 16 he received the title: ‘Preferent’.

He is the sire of more than ten licensed sons of including: No Limit, Nassau, Montreal, Maserati, Orame, Sheraton, Nothing to Lose, Nirvana, Bustique and Wittinger.

In 2005 his son Ultimate was Dutch champion of the 4 year old jumpers, Rowan was Champion of the 7 and 8 year olds of the Eastern League final in USA, Richmond Hill was Reserve World Champion of the 7 Year old young horse jumping championships in Lanaken while Run DMC won the 7 Year old class in 2003.

All over the world Indoctro has produced winners at Grand Prix and World Cup level. Casadora (Lauren Hough) won the Grand Prix of Kentucky, Youp (Leslie Howard) won the Grand Prix of Palm Beach and Tampa and the Derby of Calgary, Nassau won the Grand Prix of Gelderland and was earlier 3rd at the European Championships and 2nd at the Dutch Championships, Black Ice (Jill Henselwood) won the Grand Prix of Indio, Orame won the Grand Prix of Culpeper, Picolien Zeldenrust won the World Cup qualifier in Halton Place and Robin won the World Cup qualifier in Wroclaw…

Other famous offspring include: Nike (Katarina Offel) a finalist at the Olympic Games in Athens, 2nd in the Grand Prix of Valkenswaard and 3rd in the Grand Prix of Arezzo; VDL Maserati, who won the Derby of Valkenswaard, 2nd in the Fidelity Grand Prix and 7th in the Derby of Hamburg; Nadia (Georgina Bloomberg) who won the Challenge Cup of Wellington and was 6th in the Grand Prix of Las Vegas, and Nobel (Maikel van der Vleuten) who won the Grand Prix of Compiegne.

In the USA, Indoctro was named the USEF jumping sire of the year.

He ranks in 10th place on Bernard le Courtois list of the top 75 stallions of 2006.

In 2007 he ranked 6th on the German FN jumping rankings but no longer features on the 2013 list.

On the 2013 WBFSH standings, Indoctro ranks 13th, with 59(!) representatives, the most successful of which was Valentino Velvet, a consistent performer with Simon Delestre, with Grand Prix wins at Paderborn and Antwerp.

Indoctro was represented at the London Games by Vedor (Fedor) with Julia Hargreaves, and at the Euros in Herning by Vivaldi (Nimmerdor) and Andreas Schou. At Rio, he was represented by Imothep and Amarillo.

On the 2015/16 KWPN stallion rankings, Indoctro is in 27th place on the list of stallions with a reliability of 90%+, with a breeding value of 132 (96%). He has sired 3965 progeny over the age of 4, with 1482 competitors – 33.806%.

On the 2015 WBFSH stallion rankings he is in 12th place with his most successful competitor, VDL Groep Arera C.

On the 2016 WBFSH rankings he has slipped to 18th, his most successful competitor is still VDL Group Arera C. On the 2020 WBFSH rankings he is in 54th place.

The 2016/17 KWPN rankings has him in 31st spot with a jumping value of 129 (conformation – 104, free movement – 100, freejumping – 107. He produced 4102 progeny over the age of 4 (the Dutch mare owners have happily flocked to Indoctro year after year, even though his breeding value is not in the top group) with 1556 competitors (37.93%). On the 2020 KWPN values list he is in 36th with a jumping value of 127.

In August 2021, hippomundo records the staggering total of 124 of his progeny that have competed at 1.60!
