Col A. L. d’Endrödy was a member of the Hungarian Olympic Three Day Event team, a champion gentleman race rider, and a member of the Hungarian showjumping team. His classic, Give Your Horse a Chance, was drafted on the shores of the Black Sean when he was a prisoner of war of the Russians, it was finished at Badminton House where he was the guest of the Duke of Beaufort.
