As a level III Para Equestrian, Sharon explains her disability and how it effects her riding: “I had bone cancer as a child and after chemotherapy and radiotherapy, that weakened my femur, then a year later I broke it, which is where all the complications came in. After numerous operations, bone graphs, pin and plating and everything else, it’s basically a femur left with limited movement and strength from the waist down. I’ve got very little movement through my pelvis, it moves about one degree. The limited movement and strength ended up being in both my legs, because I was in hospital for so long, and then in crutches and wheelchairs for so long, that my right leg has ended up with limited movement and strength as well.”
