Dr. Keane is a graduate with honors of the University of Illinois in 1979. He has practiced in Chester County Pennsylvania since 1982. In August of 2005, he opened his own practice, Sports Medicine Associates of Chester County.

Dr. Keane’s interests include diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal injuries in race and sport horses. He has previously acted as a Team Veterinarian for 3 countries: The US Show Jumping Team, the Australian Three-Day Team and the Ecuadoran Three-Day Olympic Team, and has experience in all of the Olympic equestrian disciplines. He has been a Treating Veterinarian at multiple Olympic Games, World Championships and European Championships. He is also a supporter of the Young Riders program in Area II.

He was honored to be a co-contributor to the current “bible” on equine lameness: Diagnosis and Management of Lameness in the Horse (Ross/Dyson), currently going into publication of its second edition.

He is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), the
AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners, and the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons).

Dr. Keane is on the AAEP Welfare Committee which focuses on issues such as equine rescue, abuse and neglect and is also certified as an FEI Veterinarian.

Dr. Keane is a horse owner and active three-day competitor as time allows.
