Jennie was from an equestrian family, her brother Michael rode in the three day event at the 1960 Olympics, and her sister Jane was a silver medalist at the 1968 Games.

Jennie was a member of the British dressage team with Kadett at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. In 1977, she started her partnership with the Dutch stallion, Dutch Courage and in 1978, the pair won a bronze at the World Dressage Championships at Goodwood. Two years later, they came sixth at the ‘Alternative Olympics’ at Goodwood.

Dutch Courage became a successful sire at Jennie’s Catherston Stud, and fathered one of her most successful partners – Dutch Gold.

In 1998, Jennie rode Dutch Gold at the Seoul Games, and in 1988/89, they headed the Nashua European points table for the World Cup – the only British combination to have achieved this honour. The pair were 4th at the World Cup finals in 1989, and 5th in 1990, 1991 and 1992.

Jennie retired from international competition after winning her tenth National Grand Prix championship in 1995, and became an international judge.
