Who's Who

Wilton, Spencer

Born : 1987

Lives : Reading, UK

Spencer was raised in Suffolk where he was a keen member of the Essex and Suffolk Pony Club and represented GB as an individual at the Pony European Eventing Championships. After leaving school Spencer worked as a working pupil for Ruth McMullen, Lucinda Green and Mark Todd. The decision to switch to dressage came when he realised he was neither good enough, or brave enough, to stay in eventing.

To date he has won 13 National dressage titles, gaining his first in 1999. He made his international debut for Great Britain in 2006 and since then hasn’t looked back. With Neville (Super Nova II), the duo have achieved  some good results during the 2016 season, including top ten finishes out in Roosendaal, as well as first placings in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special classes in Lier. The pair came 3rd at Hartpury in the Grand Prix in July.

Super Nova II is by De Niro out of a mare by Weltmeyer.

Rio 2016 will be Spencer’s debut for Great Britain at a senior Championships.
