Katrin grew up in T\u00fcbingen in South Germany. She studied at the university in Hohenheim (Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg) earning a degree in Agriculture. During this time she was an auction rider for the Baden Wuerttembuerg Verband, and Hubert Schulze R\u00fcckamp in Undingen.<\/p>\n
After finishing her studies, she started as the head at the newly\u00a0built Gest\u00fct Schloss\u00e4cker in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg.\u00a0 Her job included management of the stud and the choice and\u00a0training of the stallions together with her partner Joachim Neubert. She was very successful with their stallions, Day Dream and Dornenkoenig in Grand Prix leading her to earning the German Gold Medal.<\/p>\n
Katrin was also responsible for chosing the top stallions, Sir Oldenburg and French Kiss for the stud when they were foals, and went on with them and other horses to be the champion of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg in the young horse classes ten times and regional champion four times. With French Kiss she became the German Bundes – Champion and the World Champion of the six year old dressage horses in 2004 after having won the World Bronze medal in 2003 in the five year old dressage horse class. In 2013 she rode Danzarino OLD to the silver medal at the Bundeschampionat for 3 year old stallions and had wins in dressage up to Grand Prix with her own horse Salazar.<\/p>\n
Katrin was for nine\u00a0years\u00a0the Deputy Breeding Director of the Verband der Z\u00fcchter des Oldenburger Pferdes in Vechta, before taking up a position with the Merkt family working with their horses and their children.
