Savary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once again, we see how close the development of the French showjumper is to the working horses of the time. When Mr Clolus\u2019s carriage mare was requisitioned, he purchased another one, Nadine (by Issue d\u2019Amblie) from Leon Brohier, the uncle of Jean and Georges, \u201cwho both remember her well, because of her energy and toughness.\u201d (the quote is from Jean Delanny\u2019s tribute to Fra Diavolo in the 1998 edition of<em> Annuaire de l\u2019\u00c9talon Sport Fran\u00e7ais)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs for Nadine, she was a rather big mare, compact, she went showing with Miss Clolus, often in foal and sometimes with a foal by her side! Jacques Savary, by marrying Miss Clolus, obtained Nadine as part of her dowry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And what a treasure she was as a brood mare! Otherwise he has a very good blooded pedigree, a good frame and size (1m68). His withers are well pronounced , and he has good muscle tone.\u201d The Controller General saw him over jumps as \u2018a very hot horse, talented very strong with good bascule\u2019. Unfortunately Uriel\u2019s hocks deteriorated making breeding difficult.<\/p>\n<p>Uriel was fully booked from the start, and straws were drawn for his services as of 1973.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Derby-VI.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22301\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Derby-VI.jpg\" alt=\"Derby VI\" width=\"550\" height=\"457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Derby-VI.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Derby-VI-300x249.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Derby-VI-361x300.jpg 361w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Derby IV, the first of the Uriels to star<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Out of his first crop when he was four, he produced Derby IV, who competed in CSIOs, Deese II who won the Grand Prix of Deauville and the Dinard and French championships, Daphn\u00e9e du Riou, De l\u2019Ampliere, Duel Fleury, and the stallion, Diableur, and his career was off and running. He produced a total of 44 get with an ISO (jumping ranking) of more than 150 without counting those champions of their generation, those exported, the fillies leaving showing rapidly to become broodmares.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jean Delanny: \u201cUriel produced hot horses (especially the mares), generous, respectful and clever, with strength, who liked to jump, good bascule, and satisfactory balance after the jump. He also gave his sickle and rather far back hocks, his heavy head, and Fra Diavolo\u2019s trot rather than that of Nadine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Rosire.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22302\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Rosire.jpg\" alt=\"Rosire\" width=\"550\" height=\"486\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Rosire.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Rosire-300x265.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Rosire-339x300.jpg 339w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Rosire \u2013 a performer with Eric Navet, and an important sire\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He produced 50 stallions, the most important of which are Le Prince de Thurin, Nuriel, Paladin des Ifs, Rosire, Si Tu Viens and Arpege Pierreville.
