Luckily he doesn\u2019t have the awful Sir Donnerhall hindquarters that his sire usually bestows on his get, his dam line of Florencio \/ Landadel probably overwhelms the flat rump legacy of the Fredriksborg, a Danish breed of chestnut carriage horses that lurks on Sir Donnerhall\u2019s mother line.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Smirnoff2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24236\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Smirnoff2.jpg\" alt=\"Smirnoff2\" width=\"650\" height=\"544\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Smirnoff2.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Smirnoff2-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Smirnoff2-358x300.jpg 358w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Smirnoff was tactfully ridden by Manuel Bammel, loose in the back, soft to the ground, forward to the contact \u2013 but still with real stallion presence. The transitions, particularly in the canter, were wonderful. Scores: 8.5 for trot, 8.5 for walk, 9 for canter, 9 for D\u00fcrchl\u00e4ssigkeit (letting through the aids, education\u2026) and 9 for potential for an 8.8.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Goldmund.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24237\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Goldmund.jpg\" alt=\"Goldmund\" width=\"650\" height=\"547\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Goldmund.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Goldmund-300x252.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Goldmund-356x300.jpg 356w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Goldmond and Birgit Hild<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A win, but only just a win by 0.1 from the silver medalists, the Trakehner, Goldmond (Imperio \/ Latimer) ridden by Birgit Hild. My notes say \u2018normal\u2019 horse, not very attractively ridden, but hey, I know nothing. The judges went wild, with the only 9.5 of the final, for the walk, 8 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 9 for D\u00fcrchl\u00e4ssigkeit, and 8.5 for potential and an 8.7 total.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/FBWSirSolit\u00e4r.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24238\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/FBWSirSolit\u00e4r.jpg\" alt=\"FBWSirSolit\u00e4r\" width=\"650\" height=\"514\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/FBWSirSolit\u00e4r.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/FBWSirSolit\u00e4r-300x237.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/FBWSirSolit\u00e4r-379x300.jpg 379w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Katrin Burger and Sir Solit\u00e4r<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Third to the former Oldenburg breeding director, Katrin Burger and a big imposing black stallion from the W\u00fcrttemberg studbook, Sir Solit\u00e4r (by Sir Sandro \u2013 Sandro Hit \/ Weltmeyer \/ Donnerhall &#8211; out of a Disco-Tanzer mare). Katrin has a touch of the \u2018Adeleans\u2019 at times, but she is an old hand at this young horse caper, and makes the most of the stallion\u2019s masculine presence. The horse is an interesting mix of the best of modern Hanoverian dressage breeding: Dancier (De Niro, out of a mare by the Lauries Crusador son, Lancier) out of a Rotspon \/ Wolkenstein II mare. Beautifully ridden by Anja Engelbart, the horse was so light he seemed suspended above the ground (but the trot was not in the slightest bit passagey), effortless canter, great presence. The judges thought is only worth 7.9 \u2013 me, I\u2019d happily send a mare to him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Bellena.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Bellena.jpg\" alt=\"Bellena\" width=\"650\" height=\"591\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Bellena.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Bellena-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Bellena-330x300.jpg 330w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Bellena and Esther Maruhn<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The qualifier winner, the Hanoverian mare, Bellena (Belissimo \/ Welser) was not quite on song for the final. Still she was shown beautifully by Esther Maruhn \u2013 the chestnut mare is so correct, so active and engaged in the trot, a great canter with a superb downwards transition. 8.4 for equal fourth with another beautiful Hanoverian mare, Florina (F\u00fcrst Romancier \/ Donnerhall) and Claudia R\u00fcscher. Florina was so soft and light and forward.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Florina.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24241\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Florina.jpg\" alt=\"Florina\" width=\"650\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Florina.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Florina-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Florina-417x300.jpg 417w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Florina and Claudia R\u00fcscher<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The crowd was down on previous years, perhaps the effect of the rain, perhaps the insidious influence of ClipMyHorse with its live coverage, so it was a little sad that the audience was so meagre at the final presentation, when two of the people who have made the Bundeschampionate what it is, were farewelled: Micheal Riploh, the cool dude in the bowler who handed out the champers at the end of each of the final rounds, and \u2018Mr Bundeschampionate\u2019 himself, Christoph Hess.
