It is nine-year old Chuck by Cassus out of a mare by Ramiro’s Son II. The pair participated in four competitions since then, and every time, the Team-World and European Champion was very excited about the black-brown gelding. Chuck had three faultless rounds at his first show in Oliva. After good performances in Braunschweig, an oversight prohibited a top result in the Grand Prix of Neumünster/Germany in April. “I am very proud of Chuck, it was his debut at a 1,55 meter-jumping class,” said a very happy Janne Friederike. The pair finished both rounds of the championship in the Westfalen-Arena of Dortmund without making a mistake, placing fifth.

Chuck was born on the farm of Heinz Saborowski in Ihlienworth. He is the second foal of the mare Ravenna, to compete at S-level. Condello by Contendro competes internationally under Alexander Zettermann and Karin Martinsen, both from Sweden. Chuck was raised as a stallion, but his performance under a rider was not good enough. The breeder sent him to the winter auction one year later.

He found a new home with Bernd Herbert, who had discovered the legendary E.T. FRH in Verden years ago and had prepared him for big competitions. Bernd Herbert placed in young jumping horse classes with Chuck during their first year together:

“He was a very good and trainable horse with a lot of power and ambition,” says Bernd.

The gelding passed through several different stables, before Chuck finally made it into the barn of Shari Zey in Hesse, who was successful with him at S-level in 2014. Wilhelm Winkeler competed Chuck in a show in Oldenburg, where Janne Friederike Meyer and her partner Christoph Zimmermann noticed him. The parties reached an agreement and Chuck moved to Friedrichshulde.

Janne Friederike Meyer raves about the young, new talent in her barn: “Chuck has a great disposition and he is a lot of fun in his daily training. He impresses with his courage and his good jumping technique over fences. We would like for him to gain more international experience this year and to carefully grow into competition at the highest level.”.

German jumping star, Janne Friederike Meyer has a new rising talent in her barn since January.
