Isabell told us:<\/h1>\n<h1>\u201cWe do a lot of rising (trot) to relax their backs. At the age of only eight, Gigolo caused a sensation when he won the European Championships, outclassing the fantastic duo of Nicole Uphoff and Rembrandt by 25 marks!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63940\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Busoni-\u2013-you-need-the-Thoroughbred-for-soundness.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Busoni-\u2013-you-need-the-Thoroughbred-for-soundness.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Busoni-\u2013-you-need-the-Thoroughbred-for-soundness-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Busoni, a successful racehorse from the Hyperion line\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Gigolo\u2019s dam sire, Busoni, won some of Germany\u2019s most prestigious races, including the Oppenhein in K\u00f6ln. Busoni\u2019s dam was imported as a foal from England. Her grand sire was the legendary Hyperion.<br \/>\nGigolo\u2019s sire Graditz, is line-bred to the Hanoverian stallion, Duellant, who is recognised as a top dressage sire.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66053\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GWerthLaugh.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"382\" height=\"550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GWerthLaugh.jpg 382w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GWerthLaugh-208x300.jpg 208w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 382px) 100vw, 382px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gigolo was successful at Novice and Elementary levels and reached Medium level at the age of five, when he was bought by Dr Schulten-Baumer Jr. As a six-year-old, Gigolo was taken over by Dr Schulten-Baumer Snr, and then ridden by Isabell Werth until he was retired.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66055\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GigoloTrot.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"459\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GigoloTrot.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GigoloTrot-300x197.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GigoloTrot-458x300.jpg 458w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Isabell said at the time, his strong point was his athletic build: \u201cRembrandt goes with a lot of charm, Gigolo is more of a sportsman. Rembrandt is always impressive, especially the ease with which he does the piaffe\/passage tours and the transitions in and out, I think Gigolo is just as good, but more than that, I believe he has more expression than other horses in the piaffe\/passage, and in the Grand Prix Special, the piaffe-passage tours are a determining factor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66056\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GigoloEuroChamp92.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"625\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GigoloEuroChamp92.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.horsemagazine.com\/thm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GigoloEuroChamp92-240x300.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of 1991, Isabell and Gigolo caused an upset when they beat Nicole Uphoff and Rembrandt in the Grand Prix Special for the first time \u2013 at Dortmund.
