Andrew began competing in eventing at the age of 17, and at the London Olympic Games, he became the first Australian to compete in seven Games: 1984 (Davey); 1988 (Kiwi); 1992 (Kiwi); 1996 (Gershwin / Darien Powers); 2000 (Swizzle Inn / Darien Powers); 2004 (Mr Pratacan); 2012 (Rutherglen).

He also competed at three WEGs: 1990 (Kiwi); 2002 (Moonfleet); 2006 Master Monarch.
