Aachen Plus, details and new treats…

The Aachen Plus tour is in two modules, the stud and training tour runs from 18 -25 June 2023, the Aachen module runs from June 23 to July 3. Some travellers are doing one module only, most are doing both… Christopher Hector will be tour leader for both modules.

Our Aachen Plus Tour is almost entirely booked, as the details fall sweetly into place! It was great to catch up with Johan Hamminga at the World Young Dressage Horse Championships, where he was coaching the Dutch Squad. Johan and his partner, Jennifer Sekreve are looking forward to hosting us at their training centre, and they’ll be our guests at the welcome dinner…

While I was in Ermelo, I lined up visits with two of Holland’s most influential breeders and stallion owners, Joop van Uytert and Eugène Reesink, they between them stand some of the most exciting dressage stallions in the world. You’ll also get a chance to watch Dutch number one, Dinje van Liere who is resident trainer with Eugène. Both Joop and Eugène have an encyclopaedic  knowledge of dressage breeding, and both are great communicators…

Eugène will be our dinner guest when we stay at the Hotel de Kastenjefabafriek.

From the best in The Netherlands, to two cutting edge breeding centres in Westphalia, Germany.  Hengststation M Beckmann stands an exciting collection of young stallions, along with the most influential ‘B’ line stallion of modern times, Callaho’s Benicio. We’ll also be visiting the stud of the family Borgmann, one of the most famous, and important Westfalien studs – it was here that the ‘E’ line was reborn, thanks to Estaban, and his son, Escolar. Stefan Borgmann is another breeder with firm views and he is not afraid to express them…

Ingrid Klimke’s at home training days are famous, here’s our opportunity to see one of the great exponents of the classical principles in action. Next we plan on catching up with Monica Theodorescu at the DOKR, and a visit to the Westphalian State Stud, and yes, as we hoped, we can visit a mare and foal show to get a taste of horse breeding in Germany at the grassroots level…

But we’ve got another training treat for you, a visit to Carina and Fabian Scholz at Sportferde Scholz, their yard was named training centre of the year, by the German Professional Riders Association, exciting new faces on the training scene…

It’s time to head to Aachen and get ready for the greatest show on earth, but there’s another bonus waiting, rising international dressage star, Australia’s Simone Pearce, will be joining us at our Aachen welcome dinner, and Simone is someone very special…
